Bio
Penny has been training dogs professionally since 2005, and in 2012 she opened the doors to Escondido, California's first daycare/boarding facility. Today, as owner and head trainer, she oversees the business and teaches Canine Good Citizen, STAR Puppy and Therapy Dog group classes along with private one-on-one classes for a wide range of dog behavior challenges including fear, aggression and separation anxiety.

Staff Educational Resources
Penny opens the doors to her business, K9 Resort and Spa, as a mentor training facility for the Regional Occupational Veterinary Assistant program, Animal Behavior Collage and the Vista Continuing Education Program students. This mentoring program allows students enrolled in animal studies to get hands on credit that goes toward their required externship hours.

As co-owner of K9 Resort & Spa, David watches over the operations hands on as well as focusing on customer satisfaction, marketing, and software/website development. David is a live-long dog lover who spent 35 years in the construction industry as President and COO of a multi-state and multi-million dollar electrical contracting company before selling the company and retiring. Selling the business gave David the time and freedom to pursue other interests which included spending time with his wife and helping her design, develop and turn K9 Resort & Spa into a 5 star business!

Kim is a lifetime animal lover and only wants the best for you and your best friend. In her spare time she is a personal trainer, avid reader and works every day on perfecting her dog training and communication skills.When asked what she likes best about working at K9 Resort and Spa Kim's response was, "I love meeting the customers, and their dogs, first hand and introducing them to our staff. I know that they love your 4 legged friends as much as you do.

As a Veterinary Technician student, Addie has gained important knowledge working firsthand with dogs and learning their behaviors. Addie's passion in life is to rescue as many animals as possible. When asked what her favorite part of working at K9 Resort and Spa, she said, "My favorite part of the day is when I walk through the door and greet all the happy, excited dogs!"

Nicole, a life long Escondido resident, loves making our K9 guests feel better and look pretty. When not at work Nichole enjoys photography, spending time with her husband, Chaz, and taking "Marley" their Chihuahua mix" on camping and hiking trips.

Kyle has a deep passion for dogs and has worked in AKC recognized kennels as well as AKC dog shows. In addition to working with dogs Kyle has knowledge with handling snakes, reptiles and many other animals.

Priscilla Garcia
Grooming Supervisor

Priscilla has been with us from the day we opened.  She began as our daycare/boarding manager while attending school to become a certified groomer.  Soon after graduating and becoming a member of the International Groomers Association Priscilla took over the responsibilities as Grooming Manager.  She is also a graduate of ROP Veterinary Assistant I & II programs. In her spare time she enjoys playing and cuddling with her cats Blitz, Misty, Menace, Twitch and her dog P-nut.

Tina has always been inspired by the potential that dogs and humans can bring out in each other. As a result, it is her dream to rescue shelter dogs and train them to be service animals. In the meantime it is her goal to gain valuable knowledge and skills working with the dogs and humans, of K9 resort and Spa as her first step to pursuing this dream. Currently Tina is enrolled in our "Knowing Dogs" training program.

In addition to specialized training, such as grooming and training certification, each of our staff members have completed pet first aid / CPR training and regularly attend continuing education courses and seminars.
